First awarded in 1954<\/strong>, the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award<\/strong> is the oldest and most renowned design award in the world. It was established by Gio Ponti, driven by the desire to exalt and make known the quality and sophistication of Italian design in the world. In over fifty years of history, about 300 projects have been awarded the Compasso d’Oro, and over 2000 have been selected by the ADI’s Permanent Design Observatory, which every year assesses the best products of the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0All the objects that have made the history of design and have been awarded the Compasso d’Oro are collected and kept in the Historical Collection of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, created in 2001 by ADI itself to protect and enhance this important heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Pellegrinelli Arreda<\/strong><\/a>, a company with furniture showrooms in Milan and Cesate<\/strong>, has always carefully selected the furniture proposals to be displayed in the stores to offer its customers only the best. Designed by Studio D’Urbino Lomazzi<\/strong>, this closable coat stand is one of Zanotta’s historical pieces and won the Compasso d’Oro in 1973. With its structure in painted beech and an extraordinarily simple opening and closing mechanism, Sciangai<\/strong> adapts perfectly to any style of living, despite its 40 years of age.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enzo Mari<\/strong> was one of the most beloved and award-winning designers ever. His most famous works include the Tonietta chair for Zanotta<\/strong> (winner of the Compasso d’Oro in 1985). This product is an example of how a thorough study in research and development is essential to create products that are both aesthetically impeccable and extremely functional.<\/span><\/p>\n

Created by Bruno Rinaldi for Opinion Ciatti<\/a>, Original Ptolomeo<\/strong> is a revolutionary self-standing bookcase in appearance and structure. With its simple and minimalist lines, Ptolomeo eliminates the superfluous and displays the essential, i.e. books, and won the Compasso d’Oro in 2004. Today the product, made entirely of steel, is available in many variations and heights.<\/span><\/p>\n

MT3 for Driade<\/span><\/h3>\n

Winner of the award in 2008, MT3<\/strong> was born from a project by Ron Arad Associates for Driade<\/strong>. A hollow structure characterizes this monobloc rocking chair, hence the name (read in English, the abbreviation MT has the same sound as the word “empty”), polyurethane. What makes it so unique? The futuristic shape associated with a product from another era, such as the rocking chair.<\/span><\/p>\n
