The story of Riva 1920 began in 1920 in Cantù, in the heart of the Brianza region, in a small artisan workshop founded by Nino Romano. Led today by the third and fourth generations, Riva 1920 has journeyed through continuous evolution, marked by key milestones: from the introduction of all-natural oil and wax finishes, which became a distinctive feature, to the presentation of its first collection at the Salone del Mobile in 1992.
A crucial turning point was the introduction of reclaimed woods, materials that tell unique stories: the thousand-year-old Kauri from New Zealand, the Briccole (mooring posts) from the Venice Lagoon, and the Cedar of Lebanon. This sensitivity to material is paired with an architectural vision, as evidenced by the Riva Center, a building designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop that houses a showroom and a Wood Museum.
